Widely Respected Scientific Study Reveals: Women Love Sex

This statistic was derived in a 2007 study by Paige M. Padgett, PhD. while she was a research associate at the University Of Texas School Of Public Health. Padgett’s study, entitled “Personal Safety and Sexual Safety for Women Using Online Personal Ads” was published in the widely respected scientific journal, Research & Social Policy, a journal of the National Sexuality Research Center.

Padgett’s study involved 740 women who had placed online ads seeking men. The results of the study were quite compelling. Padgett found that over 30% of the women engaged in sex on a 1st date. And more surprising, of those women that had sex, 77% reported not using a condom during 1st date sex.

Virtual Intimacy Theory

Padgett’s conclusion was not that these women are merely sluts. Rather she discovered that women who would otherwise be cautious may engage in unprotected sex because they are lulled into a sense of virtual intimacy.

Padgett concludes that “virtual intimacy” was fostered by a high level of disclosure and frequency of e-mail exchanges with the men they eventual slept with on the 1st date. She discovered that before meeting face-to-face, the women exchanged information about their backgrounds, likes & dislikes, and even sexual preferences.

This Padgett says created the “virtual intimacy” a sense that a relationship might or might not exist but may encourage sexual intimacy at a faster rate than what would develop through conventional methods.

So What Does This Mean For Guys?

The take home message for guys: Start Online Dating Now. It’s cheaper than clubbing & bar hopping and you’ll get laid more often on a 1st date.

My take on Padgett and her study: Her interpretation of the data is overly paternalistic and paints women as helpless creatures taken in by men that create a sphere of “virtual intimacy. Bullshit!

Applying Common Sense To Padgett’s Study

Let’s apply common sense and give women the credit they deserve. Women who date online know exactly what they want. They want to find attractive mates that meet their dating criteria. They select one or several potential mates from the endless number that constantly email them. Then they asked a series questions to determine whether this particular male meets their criteria. If so, its on!

If you really examine what’s going on here, you’ll realize that it’s the women pressing the fast forward button on the sexual relationship. The women in the study (and all online women daters) want to learn as much about a potential mate as possible, whether by email or over the phone before meeting face-to-face.

Why? To allow themselves to engage in sexual congress as soon as possible. Once a woman convinces herself that a man meets her criteria she will sleep with him. And in every case in Padgett’s study, the women had already decided through email and telephone conversations that the particular man in question met her criteria or at least enough of the criteria to warrant sex!

Putting Padgett’s Study To Work For You

The bottom line here is: women want sex just as much as you do. But, and this is the most important factor I’ve gleaned from Padgett’s study and from my own online dating experiences: They want to convince themselves that you are a Quality Guy and that you meet their criteria.

This is where so many guys shoot themselves in the foot. They think that they must have (1) money; (2) power; or (3) fame to succeed with women. Simply not true. Here’s my secret that is backed up by Padgett’s findings: To succeed in online dating the only thing you need to do is not disqualify yourself. Women have questions, yes. They have criteria, yes.

But, women only need you to answer their inquiries and present yourself in very straightforward manner in order that they can say to themselves, “Hey this guy is normal, he’s available, and he’s mine.” They must be able to give themselves permission to have sex.
